I Haven't Conquered My Shopping Demons

November 22nd, 2008 at 05:44 am

I'm usually pretty disciplined about spending money. I know what my long-term goals are and what I need to do in the short term to get there. I know exactly how much I spend each month and how much I need to save.

But I fell off the wagon this past week. This kind of thing doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's because I've gone through a period of being VERY GOOD and not spending much on anything and I end up feeling "deprived."

So I blew about $100 total on some jewelry (my weakness) and a pair of blue jeans.

I'm feeling sort of regretful about the purchases, but at the same time, it's not going to break the bank.

That works out pretty good for the taxes. I'm dreading paying taxes on my freelance work. I have work from 2 clients and both will be over $600. Ugh.

PS I can never pass up a new mortar and pestle!

Don't feel guilty about spending a $100... you are helping the economy. *wink* Seriously, it's really not that you can't afford what you bought... you definitely can. It's your frugal side is telling you to save, save, save it instead. But, I think it's OK to spend a little on ourselves once in a while, especially if doing so lifts our spirits and we can afford it.

I really like TJ Maxx and recently bought some gifts there for my family that I am visiting next month. They have some very good bargains.
