Maybe next year we could have a zoned no-heat contest? I found out later that Hubster hadn't turned on the heat on the 17th, but we did on the 22nd.

I can't believe I bowed out so early! The weather really can make all the difference. Of course, in the last week the heat hasn't been running at all because we are having balmy weather.

Could not tough it out beyond Oct 9 this year. Had houseguests who are used to warmer weather, so I cranked up the furnace to 70 degrees. Since they left, the furnace is back off and the layers of warm clothes are back on.

Count me in too. It was freezing in here most of October, and I gave in a couple weeks ago.

Still no heat here, NC is kinda cold in the am, but nice by afternoon, so mostly not tempted.

Hoping to go beyond Halloween this year with no heat.

Oh and I love how you put the state by the names, so folk have a better idea who is 'real' competition.

Pencil me in as being in Zone 6/7. Weird map, I'm usually zone 6, but here it's showing 7. Eh. I'm in the middle of the south, YA'LL!

Hey, guys. I just spoke with Kelly (see above) and she's doing a story on no heat contests in general. There is a whole town in NJ that's doing one! Apparently, this kind of thing is fairly popular. She will send a link to the story once it's published, if you're interested.
