Important Note About the No Heat Contest

November 22nd, 2009 at 10:05 pm

I am not sure who is still in the contest. I believe at last count there were 3 or 4 of you, including ImaSaver and MonkeyMama?

If you are STILL living with no heat on in the house, could you please email lbruno@gannett.com.

She is especially interested in talking to you if you don't live in the Northeast.

She's a reporter with USA Today and she is spring-boarding off a recent story on the no heat challenge that appeared in the NJ Star Ledger.

This is a great opportunity to get some exposure for your blog and offer your thoughts on what it's like to live with no heat.

No, I turned mine on several days ago, and Monkeymama reported that her husband had turned their on, but it had not run very much. I do have a friend that is living with no heat on yet, in this area.

Being unofficially not in, I also turned mine on a couple weeks ago for the 1.5 hours at wake up time (we're on a timer). It's all about the fireplace the rest of the day.

I am out as of last friday. It was to cold in the apartment (my own apartment!!) to continue unpacking. I turned it on-then turned it off when i left for the weekend. But on one day and now today as I am home sick with a cold.

I was really aiming for after thanksgiving!

I talked to her a couple weeks ago and forgot to tell you. It was an interesting experience. Thanks for setting it up!

ww didn't know about this contest till googling how cold our house could be in the winter. waking up today was 48 through the day we are averaging 55 to 58 using a wood stove instead of a fireplace (does that count?) don't like the twmp set there but can't afford to have gas turned on lol so we are layering and have blankets on all windows and doors and are surviving. Our goal is to make it through febuary without having the heat turned on guessing it will average 55 or so with good wood Smile Wood stove is not used very much at night.. loaded before bed and in morning then every few hours through the day
